Spooky Story Time

Shout out to Luna from GamersUnitedGG for coming up with this guest blog challenge. This had me raking my brain on how to get my word count down low enough to meet the qualifications for this challenge and I’m STILL 25 words over. Haha. See the prompt below and enjoy!

Prompt: You are transported into a video game where you are inside of a Haunted Mansion. You hear a strange noise and open the door to find what?

I didn’t know where I was or how I got here, but I knew for sure I couldn’t deny the opportunity to conquer this haunted mansion. A light shove on the door proved adequate enough to send the typical creaking sound of old construction squealing through the house. I was just thankful I didn’t need to roam around the yard looking for some secret key to open the house. Clearly this wasn’t that type of video game.

I stepped in and from behind I heard the doors close on their own. I laughed and pressed on – typical video game stuff. I emerged in a foyer with few options of where to go. In front of me laid a staircase and to my left a family room. A door opened upstairs and I quickly decided the living room was going to be my best choice.

I listened intently for footsteps moving around upstairs, but no sounds came. I started to calm down and began observing the room for clues. What is my purpose here? What am I supposed to find?

Across the walls were diagrams of different sorts. One seemed to be a map of the Galaxy, but the planets were not any that I recognized. Next to this was a full diagram of the human body. The diagram both the heart and the brain had red ink circles around them.

“Did you let yourself in?”

“Oh,” I said. Standing in front of me was a girl just around my age. “I’m sorry I uh, the doors were unlocked.”

“No worries, I’m glad you came.”

“Do I know you?” I asked.

“You don’t remember me?” She frowned. “Come on, I’m Ana, we went to high school together.” She laughed. “Come on, let me show you around upstairs.”

Quickly a box popped up in front of me prompting me to select “Yes” or “No.” I hesitated.

“Yes.”

I suddenly felt a sharp pain on the side of my head. The world went black.

Now loading…

Above me a ceiling fan whirled around, clearly off cycle. I heard sounds around me, like people were talking by slurping on their tongues. My hands and feet were tied to the gurney I was strapped to. I saw Ana a few feet away from me. On each side of her were two alien like creatures. They had scales running down their gray naked bodies. Within seconds Ana’s body shredded off like an old snake skin. Blood and guts ran down her newly emerged gray body. I looked around the room for some kind of escape. To my left I saw a medical table with a few utensils. My eyes immediately spotted the scalpel.

I moved my wrist around, trying to break free. Finally the rope pulled free enough for me to yank my hand out. Now was my chance. I would stab them all – at least it was worth a shot. My hand clasped around the cool metal of the handle.

But then the slurping stopped.

All I saw was a pair of fangs bigger than my head emerge from Ana’s mouth and I knew my end was here.

GAME OVER.

I hope you enjoyed! & I hope everyone is off to a super SPOOKY start to October.
